What do you love about being on the care team?I love helping people navigate their health journey more easily. Every journey is complex and personal, so it’s no surprise that people want an app to help them make sense of their health. Verily Me is free. It gives you access to personalized health recommendations at your fingertips, and so much more. I love being on the team that makes it all happen. What traditional healthcare challenges does Verily Me address?Verily Me does an amazing job of addressing the gaps I’ve seen firsthand in traditional healthcare settings. For example, the time that patients spend with physicians is incredibly valuable. However, both providers and patients often leave appointments frustrated. As a provider, I was spending a tremendous amount of time hunting down patients’ fragmented medical records to pull together a more complete view of their health. That’s time I’d rather spend actually treating my patient.As a patient, you may only have a few minutes to discuss your health during an appointment. But those precious minutes can be spent trying to find and explain medical records from multiple providers. It’s hard to remember the name or dosage of a particular medication you were prescribed, or even why you are taking it. That eats up more time. By the time your provider understands the relevant information, the visit’s over. Often, you leave without the answers you came for, and everything feels rushed.And speaking from professional experience, from my time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to my current work with Verily Me, every piece of health information matters. And, when clinicians like us have immediate access to your available health records, it can minimize the risk of being put on a treatment plan that has already been tried or was ineffective. For example, a provider might see that a patient was unable to stick to a certain treatment because the medication was too expensive. Having access to years of medical records allows providers to see patterns that would otherwise be missed.

What are personalized health recommendations?Great question. The power of Verily Me is in the combination of consolidated data and clinical expertise. With your records in one place, we can see a more complete picture of your health. This enables our team to review your information and deliver personalized health recommendations that are truly tailored to you. Based on your records, these recommendations may include screening suggestions for:<ul><li>Diabetes</li><li>Obesity</li><li>High blood pressure (hypertension)</li><li>Chronic kidney disease</li></ul> Why are personalized health recommendations so valuable?These recommendations are so valuable because they empower you to take action for your health. People often don't know what steps they should be taking, which can cause them to do nothing at all. By providing a simple, personalized recommendation, we can help you understand what specific step you need to take to stay on the right track. By taking preventive steps today, you can help reduce health issues tomorrow. How does it work? When you join Verily Me, how do you get the recommendations?As soon as you verify your identity, Verily Me starts to gather your health records in one place so we can gain a more holistic view of your health. Once your records are in the app, your account will enter my queue (or the queue of another care team member). I’ll review your data and compare it to standard screening requirements. For example, if you’re over 35 and haven’t recently checked your A1C for fasting blood glucose, I would recommend that you complete that screening. How do my records appear in Verily Me?Verily does the work to gather your health records from multiple doctors and systems so my team and I can provide your personalized recommendations. You can also regularly refresh your health records periodically. That means you’re seeing your latest available information in one place, like medications, procedures, vaccines, conditions, test results, and more. No more jumping from app to app or remembering multiple logins. As a patient myself, I know how frustrating it is to have records scattered across multiple portals.

To access your records, Verily uses one or more Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to securely access your information when you consent to receive care with us, just like your primary care provider. However, one thing I always like to point out to patients is that HIEs may not include your whole health history because providers must agree to share data for records to be available on HIEs.Speaking as a clinician, I can’t stress enough the importance of having access to as much health history as possible. Streamlined access to comprehensive information saves time with patients, improves communication, and leads to better health outcomes. It allows for earlier interventions and more informed decision making every step of the way. No need to spend hours doomscrolling generic health articles. And if you want to know your latest A1C or need help remembering a medication, just ask Violet. She’s here to help you piece together more of your unique healthcare puzzle, whenever you need her.I’ve heard about people these days uploading their health information to chatbots and other AI tools that aren’t secure, which is very concerning to me as a healthcare professional.
